Being Association organised ‘Sanhita Manch 2017’ for the purpose of sharing the new Hindi plays with the young aspirant theatre directors. An announcement to invite new scripts were circulated in the beginning of 2017. Out of enormous responses, total of seventy-seven plays across the country, five remarkable plays got selected by the distinguished juries Ranjit Kapoor, Tripurari Sharma and Kumud Mishra. The awarded plays and the respective writers were, ‘Sat Bhashe Raidas’ by Rajesh Kumar, ‘Faiz Ahmad Faiz’ by Balaji Gauri, ‘Patthar Ke Phool’ by Avnish Singh, ‘Agarbatti’ by Ashish Pathak and ‘Daalmoth’ by Rahul Rai. These selected plays were published in the form of a book named, ‘Rangkalam’ by ‘Story Mirror’ publication house under the editing guidance of Alka Agarwal Sigitiya and Vivek Agarwal. Three of the selected plays got staged on 16th, 17th and 18th August, 2017 in P. L. Deshpande Sabhagruha, Mumbai and on 22nd and 24th September, 2017 in Indian Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The plays were directed by Rajendra Panchal of Paraffin from Kota, Happy Ranjit of Unicorn Actors Studio from Delhi and Rasika Agashe of Being Association from Mumbai. There were interactive discussion sessions for the beginners in theatre with eminent writers and directors. The three days festival in Mumbai and Delhi also organised an exhibition on the history of Hindi play writings covering Bharatendu Harishchandra era to contemporary playwrights. The festival attracted a huge number of theatre lovers and practitioners from various places. Legendary thespian like Ram Gopal Bajaj, Raghubir Yadav, Rajat Kapoor, Ramu Ramanathan and Anuradha Kapoor embraced the festival with their presence and motivated the young aspirant writers, directors and actors.
